Seakayaking
Seakayaking has seen phenomenal growth in popularity
as an outdoor activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities.
No special skills are required and the basics can be mastered by most people
in a brief orientation. Seakayaking can be enjoyed by anyone in reasonably good
health. It is not an especially strenuous activity. Tours at Chester River Kayak
Adventures are designed not to overtax the capabilities of adults. The pace
is moderate and there are stops along the way.
Guides
Your guides are experienced kayakers who are water-safety trained. While they
come from a variety of backgrounds, they all are patient, informative, and are
comfortable orienting new paddlers to kayaking. They are familiar with the local
waters and weather conditions. All are dedicated to sharing their love of nature
and paddling with you, and in making your tour a memorable one
Paddling with CRKA you'll ply the gentle tidal waters
of the Chester River (a major tributary of the Chesapeake Bay) an area that
offers some of the finest uncluttered paddling to be found in the Middle Atlantic
Region. You'll paddle in protected creeks and coves, passing through broad stretches
of undeveloped tidal land with thick forests and cornfields reaching to the
water's edge.
The local waters are a naturalists paradise with osprey, herons, bald eagles, swans, and in the fall, huge numbers of migrating waterfowl (arriving here for the winter!). You may catch a glimpse of the elusive Delmarva Fox Squirrel or the playful river otters on Eastern Neck Island. In addition, you learn of the diverse marine life that inhabits the country's largest estuary.
Only two hours from Washington or Philadelphia, the Chester River is closer than you think yet is a world apart. It offers a quiet respite from job stress and a chance to get in touch with natural tidal rhythms. In short, it refreshes the human spirit.
Our
Kayaks
We've selected a variety of kayaks from the top manufacturers for your tours
and rentals. Our broad selection assures that you'll have a kayak suited to
your size and skill level. After researching the market, we selected kayaks
that demonstrated excellent performance, safety, and suitability for the waters
we paddle. You'll find kayaks for children ten and up, and for adults various
sizes including very large. You may wish to paddle your own kayak or paddle
with partners in one of our tandem kayaks.
Groups
Chester River Kayak Adventures can accommodate group trips, guided or self-guided.
If you're thinking about getting together with a group of friends, team members,
business associates or coworkers, we'll help you plan your trip and offer you
a group discount (six or more paddlers). If you're thinking about arranging
a school trip, we'd be pleased to help arrange an exciting experience for the
children. You can take one of our standard trips or we'll customize a trip to
suit your group. We can accommodate paddlers at our Bed and Breakfast inn, The
Bay Breeze Inn, and can coordinate stays at other area inns. Menus from area
restaurants are available at our Inn. Please contact us to discuss your group
adventure.
